Getting adviceAdvice For Other Agencies
As a specialist adviser on tax and tax debt we are keen to support voluntary advice agencies and tax professionals giving pro-bono advice.

Using this website

Advice for Advisers is the route for those with some prior tax understanding. In addition, the information given under the general headings above will answer many of the questions that you encounter.

If the information is not there, you are welcome to e-mail your query to us. But please note that, as a small charity, we cannot undertake to answer all questions received by e-mail in a timely way.

How TaxAid can help you and your clients

TaxAid runs advice sessions in Southwark and in Birmingham in order to meet the voluntary sector's needs for their clients. Clients of advice agencies may book an appointment with a TaxAid adviser for these sessions. To do this, they should telephone the helpline as below. TaxAid continues to help CABx and other voluntary agencies with tax-related problems over the phone. See below for details of how to access services.

Telephoning TaxAid

Advice agencies are welcome to telephone us on our administration line 020 7803 4950 during office hours for help with their clients' problems, and we will try to give immediate help when you have your client with you. We may need to call you back later if the client is not with you, as we can get very busy. Please do not give this number to clients as it is exclusively for you to use.

Referring clients to TaxAid

If you feel that your client needs advice directly from TaxAid, do give them our helpline number 0845 120 3779 explaining that it is answered between 10am and 12pm on weekdays (except Friday). We will try to help them over the phone. If you feel that they might have difficulty contacting us themselves, you are welcome to telephone on their behalf, while they are with you.

Other help

We are always willing to discuss other ways of helping other voluntary agencies. For example, we sometimes run training courses, and check the accuracy of information on tax given in the publications of other organisations. However, our limited resources mean that we normally charge for extensive services of this nature.

Do contact us if you would like posters, leaflets and other publicity material on TaxAid's services for your reception area.
